INTERNATIONAL COURSE ON QUALITY OF CANCER REGISTRATION
The objective of the course is for individuals who are working in cancer registration
- on aspects of data collection, quality of data
- or analysis and presentation of data,
-or, ideally, all
The aim is to provide an intensive introduction to the methodology of cancer registration, to set cancer registry, to improve data quality, to use of cancer registry data.
Target Participants
Those who are working in cancer registries. Priority will be given to participants from South East Asia.
Equipment and Material
Participants will be provided with manuals and textbooks. Personal computers and software are required during the course. Desk-top computers are equipped at the workshop.
Program
The course covers all relevant aspects of data collection, coding and analysis:
• Setting of cancer registry
• Sources of information, case-finding and methods of data abstraction
• Classification of tumors and coding according to ICD and ICD-O
• Quality control, measures of comparability, standard definitions according to IACR
• Data analysis and reporting
*Satellite meeting (Thursday afternoon on 26 August 2010):
• Asian Cancer Registry Network: How to construct and collaborate?
(Representatives from selected cancer registries in Asia)
Participation Requirements
There is no registration fee.
The course is limited to 20 participants who will be selected on the basis of their experience for cancer registration.
All participants must be fluent in English, the working language.

Venue and Visa
The course will take place at Cancer Unit, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, Thailand
Full details will be provided for candidate applications have been accepted.
Participants are responsible for obtaining a visa for Thailand. The faculty will provide them with an invitation letter if required.
Transportation
Participants can reach Khon Kaen by domestic flight (from Suvarnabhumi airport), car or train.
Food and accommodation
Food and accommodation are free of charge.
Language
The working language of the course will be English, and participants will be expected to have sufficient knowledge of spoken and written English to participate actively in discussion
